Abstract
Education
technology is an idea that has a creativity due to the creation of technology
in the world of education, which is included in the support service for the
world of education, through technology, students are able to develop interest
and talent. Technology for students has no limitation in studying. Because
learning technology is not limited by space and time. When the times have not
developed including technology, teaching and learning activities take place
monotonously, namely the absence of creativity so that students experience
boredom in learning activities, as well the source of material for students,
unlike the current era where we can find books from the internet, namely called
e-books. We only need an email account to log into the internet, how easy it is
to find knowledge in today’s era if each of us really uses technology well.
Along with the times, technology plays an important role in the world of
education. The use of learning technology is the key in facing the demands of
modern education, providing significant benefits in increasing effectiveness
and accessibility of education.
Introduction
According
to Musfiqon (2015), technological development is something that cannot be
avoided in life, because technological progress will go according to scientific
progress education. As we know, the development of science and technology has
broad implications in human life so that it is expected that these humans need
to explore to the development of science and technology is one of the
productivity results of humans who have knowledge gained from optimal benefits
and reduce the negative implications that exist. Educational technology creates
various innovations that can certainly provide positive benefits for human
life, so that the learning process is innovative. What is meant by innovative
learning is student centered learning where students are given ample space to
be able to develop their competencies with teacher guidance. Through various
innovations in the learning process, it certainly makes it easier for students
to listen to material. According to the Association for Educational
Communication and Technology (AECT, 2004), Educational technology is an ethical
study and practice in an effort to facilitate learning and improve performance
by creating, using or utilizing, and managing appropriate technological
processes and resources. The main goal is to facilitate learning in order to
create effective, efficient, engaging and performance-enhancing learning.
Along
with the times learning technology is experiencing the development of the
times. The development of learning technology plays an important role in the
implementation of the learning process. The application of technology in the
learning activity is marked by the presence of e-learning, which with all its
variations has facilitated changes in learning delivered through electronic
media such as audio, video, interactive TV, CD, and internet.
Research
Method
The
method that bee use in this research is library research, what is meant by
library research is this research is carried out by collecting data in the form
of books, journals, and previous research results related to the object of this
research.
Discussion
Educational
Technology has two words: technology and education. Technology comes from the
Greek word "technologia". According to Webster Dictionary, it means
systematic treatment or systematic handling of something, while
"techne" as the basis of technology means art, skill, science.
Meanwhile, education is the transfer of knowledge carried out in a systematic
way. Educational technology is a field
concerned with efforts to facilitate the learning process and improve
performance through the design and management of technological resources
properly. Technology used in education has positive and negative impacts. The
positive impacts of using technology in education are:
a) The
use of time, costs, and logistics will be more efficient if utilizing
technology in the learning process.
b) Provide
a broader learning experience.
c) Making
it easier to obtain existing information will be easier to spread which means
it is not limited by space and time.
The
negative impacts arising from the use of technology in education, namely:
a) The
risk of excessive dependence on technology can cause students to be less
effective in learning without the help of technology.
b) Changes
in behavior, ethics, norms, or morals of life.
c) Potential
for concentration disorders due to the use of technology during the learning
process
Technology
plays an important role in the world of education, technology can increased the
quality of education, Interactive educational tools are a way to improve
education by bringing technology into the classroom. There are several
technological advances in education in the form of online learning platforms
(Efendi, 2019, p. 177-178).
1. Quipper
Video: is an online-based education platform and can be used by students as a
second school.
2. Ruang
Guru: is an education platform that combines sharing learning activities such
as tutoring rooms and Q&A with teachers online.
3. Zenius:
is an online-based platform that contains discussion of questions for an exam
level. This platform does not provide a question and answer session, the
discussion of questions is only through audio that users can listen to.
4. Kelase:
is a platform that can be used by students, parents, teachers, and school staff
to learn independently.
5. Quintal:
is a platform that emphasizes the concept of managing learning activities
online. Teachers can take attendance and share materials through this platform.
This platform combines School Information System (SIS) and Learning Management
System (LMS).
In
the research (Juraschek
et al., 2020, p. 48), there are few event which are used as a reference in
creating digital learning content, including Gamejam and edithathon, both
of the events goals is to make digital education content and develop education
games. Process of making education digital content has to be in line with the
teaching process, so teachers can pay attention to the following (OECD, 2016,
pp.31-32).
- Teaching
based on educational games. Educational games should be able to improve
conceptual understanding and increase students' imagination, thus making
students' thinking process creative in solving problems.
- Technology-enabled
education can expand teaching opportunities for teachers and learning
opportunities for students. For example, an online laboratory that
conducts experimental activities, this can be done by students by learning
while working more broadly. So that students do not feel bored with the
learning.
- Technology
development can increase cooperation between cultures both locally and
interlocally, so that students can expand their knowledge of cultures
other than in Indonesia.
- Technology
development can be used by teachers to conduct learning assessment to
students at this time by adjusting their teaching and as needed and
identifying skills that students need to acquire in a more comprehensive
way. So that learning assessment does not need to be done manually as
usual, this can utilize current digital technology.
Conclusion
Based from the explanation above, it
can be concluded that:
- Usage
of technology in learning can make a positive contribution to development
in modern education, increasing efficiency, gaining access easily, and
increasing the level of interactivity. This reflects learning that is more
efficient, accessible and engaging thanks to the use of technology.
- Technology
giving a big contribution in increasing education quality, especially with
online education platform which is interactive and innovative.
- Online
platform, such as Quipper Video, Ruang Guru, Zenius, Kalase, Quintal, has
proven their contribution in providing education access which is flexible
and interactive.
