The Philosophical Importance in Designing Effective Educational Technology

 

 Introduction

 

Education is one of the efforts which is accompanied by a process for making a new knowledge accompanied with new insight, for making a better life because education is a really important thing and very useful for the future. With the creation of technology in the education world it can help us to find information sources because in technology we can easily get a lot of information so that we can get a lot of knowledge from the creation of technology in the education world. Educational technology is a field that facilitates human learning with identifying, developing, arranging, and using all sources systematically, accompanied with managing all the process. Can be said education technology is a part of support system service because with the existence of technology, it can reduce difficulty  in finding information. Because of the existence of technology, a person will get a wide insight. It was said so because in the past, the era that hasn't fully developed, means that there is no technology and students only use books for gaining sources because of the difficulty in learning and gaining knowledge. The philosophy word is made from 2 words from the Greek language. “philo” means “love” and “sophia” means “wisdom”. it can be concluded that Philosophy is the series of ideas, view, value, and principle. which is based on understanding of education. There are ideas developed by thinkers, philosophers, and education members for centuries and giving views about purpose, process and the meaning of education philosophical ideas developed in education can create conceptual framework. which of course will help finding, defining, form, and driving the education system and lesson and study activities.


             Discussion

A philosophical basis is an explanatory focus policy about the truth of something that is based on belief, conception, and personal attitude that shows the direction he is taking. It can be concluded that philosophical foundation is a set of philosophies which is made the starting point in education, foundation of educational philosophy as a system of ideas about education with dedication or explanation from a public philosophy system advocated by a particular school of philosophy. When connected in the education world, then philosophy has a role in providing a reference for the usefulness of implementing education through an appropriate system. This system setting refers to philosophy understanding followed by educational world beads which is in the field of technology studies. Which can help educational implementation precisely, directed, and measurable. Because of that, through this context humans will be able to stand on a right philosophical foundation regarding the direction of a planned education. An example of basic questions related to education philosophical foundation, is like “”which direction we gonna take our educational world?” if we criticized even more, there will be a question like “what is the essence of the meaning brought by the scientific field of educational technology at this time?” or there is also “what is the benefit of educational technology for the education world in this era?” all of the questions can be answered if we have a philosophical mindset. In the order of answering questions in education philosophical foundation then there are three poles: ontology foundation (what), epistemology foundation (how) and axiology foundation (for what). here is the explanation of the 3 poles:


        1.  Ontology in the field of educational technology studies

The term ontology has a word origin “ontos" which means “which is at” and “logos” which means “science' '.  Ontology practically will be the main problem in the educational world, because students always hang out with the environment and have a strong urge to understand something. because of the role of educational technology in this position as a development to facilitate the relation between students and his environment. It can be described that the foundation ontology of education technology is a matter of object education technology which regulates everything related to education and learning activities. It can be concluded that ontology with scientific field education technology is a very important foundation for building educational technology building structures.


2.   Epistemology in the field of educational technology studies.

Epistemology is from the Greek language “episteme” (knowledge) and logos (word) which means branch of philosophy concerned with nature, origin, and types of knowledge. The understanding of epistemology can be concluded specifically in particular talks about knowledge about how to get knowledge. Epistemology is related to education technology that are activities being carried out to find truth values so that it can be utilized to give solutions for all the problems in the education world. The existence of education technology is an effort to reach the truth and the various problems that exist in the world of education, especially in the implementation of learning. It can be concluded that epistemology foundation educational technology is a really important thing to learn, then if someone understands the right meaning then they can implement the main role, which is to find the answer to educational problems  within the scope of individual learning activities through various means, by anyone, anywhere, and at any time.


         3.  Axiology in the field of educational technology studies

According to Candilaras (2003), axiology is a field which investigates values. Technology study axiology, is a continuation of the stage after the nature of ontology and epistemology of educational technology has been completely understood and implemented. in the study of axiology will create an innovation on how to implement and apply the ontological and epistemological aspects of the field of educational technology studies into the world of education and of course it is required to be able to provide real benefits to the world of education. Thus, it can be described that the axiology of the field of educational technology studies is that it can produce an effective and efficient learning process and improve the quality of the learning process.

 

Conclusion

            It can be concluded, philosophy is really important in designing an effective study technology, because the existence of an educational philosophy can provide a solid foundation for designing educational technology that is in accordance with the  values and goals of education, and can support relevant learning experiences, therefore with a philosophy it can improve quality in the world of education.
